Sovereign Tower Act 0 Prologue Walkthrough
From coronation comedy to your first Round Table assignments
Act 0 is Sovereign Tower’s playable prologue — the slice Wild Wits added when the demo expanded for Steam Next Fest. It answers a question the marketing copy skips: how did you become Sovereign? You meet advisor Arlin, sit on a surprisingly comfortable throne, and learn that ruling a magical tower means saying yes to the wrong people at the wrong time.
Act 0 is shorter than Act 1 but not skippable tutorial fluff. Decisions about petitions, knight introductions, and the Lady of the Tower echo into Groveshire and Gavault routes. Read this page alongside Demo Walkthrough for full chronology.
What Act 0 teaches
The prologue introduces every pillar of the management loop without dumping the entire kingdom on you:
- Audience chamber flow — petitioners queue, you pick dialogue options, and accepted problems become quest cards. See Audience Chamber for mechanic detail.
- Knight personalities — starter knights banter, reveal likes and dislikes, and hint at stat spreads before you assign them.
- Tower geography — throne room, corridors, Lady’s statue, crypt hints, and locked annex doors.
- Faction language — Merchants, Mystics, Scholars, Nobles, People, and Treasury get name-checked through specific grievances.
If a mechanic feels unclear, pause Act 0 and read How to Play rather than pushing into Act 1 blind.
Key story beats
Coronation and Arlin
Arlin’s tone is half mentor, half exhausted HR manager. The game uses humor to mask real stakes: you can offend Nobles on day one or spend Treasury goodwill before you see a balance sheet. Treat early dialogue as training wheels, not consequence-free.
Note Arlin’s reminders about matching knights to quests — they foreshadow the Round Table UI where stat icons appear on each card.
Meeting the Lady of the Tower
The Lady is a sentient stone statue tied to annex expansion. In Act 0 you likely cannot unlock every room, but you should speak with her when prompted. She explains that annexes like the blacksmith forge and witch alchemy lab materialize when you earn her trust and recruit the right servants during audiences.
Romance is optional, but friendship gates construction. Annexes and Crafting covers forge and potion outputs that show up in Items lists later.
Starter knights on the table
Act 0 confirms the demo’s core roster:
| Knight | Niche hints |
|---|---|
| Angelica | Charisma, diplomacy, animals — strong for early peaceful quests |
| Gwendan | Noble pride, duels, dramatic solutions |
| Ursula | Magic rituals, relic recovery, low Charisma |
| Gideon | Social maneuvering, duel tags |
| Goberto | Hunts, clumsy Strength plays |
Cross-reference traits on the Knight Roster and plug stats into the Knight Quest Matcher when Act 0 quest cards look tight.
First Round Table nights
Your initial assignments are forgiving but not fake. Sending Ursula on a pure Charisma petition fails loudly — the game wants you to read icons. Use Knight Stats to decode thresholds; use Quest Success Tips for personality mismatches.
Failure here rarely locks secrets, but it can delay annex income or sour a faction before Act 1 branches appear.
Choices that carry forward
Act 0 flags do not always show a giant “CONSEQUENCE” banner. Watch for:
- Recruitment approvals — denying a knight now may require rewinds to see them later.
- Treasury vs People tradeoffs — Merchants want roads; People want relief. Track both in the Faction Balance Tracker.
- Servant hires — blacksmith and witch recruits unlock annex conversations with the Lady.
- Crypt foreshadowing — the Demon mentions rewinding time; you will need that system for Secret Knights like Brunhilda.
Act 0 completion checklist
- Finish tutorial audiences without bankrupting Treasury unless intentional.
- Speak to every knight at least once; note Intendant teasers if Lady Alwena appears.
- Visit the Lady and identify locked annex doors.
- Complete the prologue Round Table nights with mixed quest types (diplomacy, hunt, ritual).
- Read the Act 1 transition prompt and choose awareness of Groveshire vs Gavault themes.
When to leave Act 0
Move to Act 1: Groveshire or Act 1: Gavault once the prologue quest chain closes and regional couriers arrive. Optional content like the Goose Quest can appear before or after the branch split depending on audience RNG — keep checking the throne room each morning.
Act 0 content may receive pacing patches before the August 6, 2026 launch. If a step no longer matches your client, compare Steam demo notes with Release and Demo and report differences on community threads rather than assuming this page is outdated silently.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Can I skip Act 0 in the demo?
No — the prologue is part of the current Steam demo and teaches audiences, the Lady, and Round Table basics. Skipping would mean missing story context carried into Act 1.
Does Act 0 contain secret knights?
Most secret recruits trigger in Act 1 optional quests or Demon rewinds. Act 0 instead sets up servants and faction tone that make later [Secret Knights](/knights/secret-knights/) routes easier.
Which stats matter most in Act 0?
Charisma and Wit appear on early diplomacy cards; Strength and Agility show up on hunt tutorials. Read [Knight Stats](/knights/stats/) rather than favoring one stat globally.
Should I rewind during Act 0?
Optional. Learning failure is cheap in the prologue. Save rewinds for Act 1 secrets documented in [Time Rewind](/guides/time-rewind/) once you understand Demon costs.
