Affinity math that matters

Affinity runs silently from roughly -10 to +10 on the UI-facing scale (penalties can dig deeper behind the scenes). Cooking is one of two primary levers; the other is assigning liked quest types. Community notes approximate:

1. Single-target cook — feed only the knight you court. Multi-romance penalties on Ursula, Gideon, Ligia, and Oliver can erase months of snacks; see Romance Guide.
2. Match archetype — Angelica likes Kind rulers; cooking alone will not save a Tyrannic tone.
3. Cook before heart days — serve Préfou/Crêpe the cycle before Angelica’s kitchen-kitten scene if affinity feels stuck.
4. Do not cook dead knights — seats cannot be dismissed; deaths stay dead until Demon rewind.

Lady of the Tower romance still leans on annex trust more than Kitchen snacks, but knight routes live or die on meals plus liked quests.

When to cook versus craft

Exploration time is finite. Prioritize Kitchen when:

• Affinity sits near resignation after Critical Failures (Quest Outcomes).
• A romance heart event is overdue despite liked quest spam.
• You unlocked a late Act 2–3 recruit (Ari, Edith, Epicrates) and need fast court buy-in.

Prioritize forge / witch alchemy instead when Beat the Dragon Knight thresholds demand gear more than feelings.
