Sovereign Tower Patch Notes 1.0.8
Stability, quest scoring, and Act 2–3 item buffs from the August 11 Steam build
Patch 1.0.8 is the first fully numbered post-launch Steam build players should treat as required reading after Sovereign Tower shipped on August 6, 2026. Wild Wits and Curve Games posted the notes on August 11 (Steam community announcement for app 4113940). This page translates those notes into wiki language — which systems moved, which story locks broke, and which guides you should re-check — without inventing undocumented numbers.

Why 1.0.8 matters
Launch week already shipped hotfixes during critic review windows. 1.0.8 is the clean public changelog players can cite: it kills a Godot / Steam initialization crash, closes an inventory gold exploit at Carina’s forge, untangles character-specific quest softlocks, and retunes late-game difficulty levers. If your save started on day-one builds, install this patch before blaming RNG on Act 2–3 cards.
The game remains solo-only on Steam for Windows, macOS, and SteamOS, with Steam Deck Verified status unchanged by this build.
Bug fixes (official list, wiki context)
Godot loading-screen crash
Steam notes describe a workaround for a crash at the Godot loading screen when the client failed to verify that Steam had initialized. Practical effect: fewer hard exits before the title menu on some decks and desktops. If you still crash after updating, verify game files on Steam and re-test before filing Discord reports.
Gwendan immortality / Gwendolen mourning loop
- Gwendan could become effectively immortal — it was impossible for him to die when story outcomes expected mortality.
- Gwendolen could mourn Gwendan’s death twice in a repeated event.
Both fixes matter for romance-adjacent and tragedy routes that use Gwendan’s fate as a branch condition. Revisit Knight Loyalty and Romance Guide notes if you kept a pre-1.0.8 save mid-mourning.
Ligia’s questline softlock (spoiler-light)
The patch fixes a lock in Ligia’s questline where the game forced the same choice for how to find the item she seeks. If you were stuck looping the same dialogue option, update and reload from a recent autosave. We do not invent item names or exact dialogue trees here — follow in-game text after the patch.
Blacksmith gold exploit
Players could buy forge items without enough gold through the Round Table room interaction path. That exploit is closed. Rebuild strategies that assumed free Carina gear; see Crafting Gear and Annexes.
Rogue spellbook after Pawnbroker recruit
Recruiting the Pawnbroker (Broker Rupin in servant marketing) could spawn a rogue spellbook in inventory. The phantom item should no longer appear. Cross-check Tower Servants if you still see orphan items on older saves.
Localization typos
Multiple typos and missing strings across all languages were corrected. French, German, Japanese, Korean, and Simplified Chinese clients should display cleaner UI lines — useful when you rely on client text while reading this EN/FR/DE/JA wiki.
Quality of life and balancing
Save / load confirmation
A confirmation popup now appears before save and load actions. This reduces accidental overwrites — especially relevant if you play with Sovereign Mode off and keep multiple manual slots. Combine with habits on Difficulty Tips.
Act 2–3 item buffs
Multiple items acquired in Acts 2 and 3 received buffs so gear keeps pace with harder late quests. Exact item names and numeric deltas belong to your patched client; treat wiki gear pages as directional until community sheets update.
Dragon Knight quest difficulty
Difficulty for quests against the Dragon Knight was adjusted. Re-run prep from Beat the Dragon Knight — older forum spreadsheets may overstate or understate the spike relative to 1.0.8.
Quest scoring curve
- Reduced the score penalty when knights are weak against a required quest stat.
- Increased the score bonus when knights are over-levelled in a required stat.
Net effect: punishing mismatches hurt slightly less, and specializing a knight into a niche pays more. Refresh mental models from Quest Outcomes and Knight Stats, and re-test borderline cards in the Knight Quest Matcher.
Cheaper forge repairs
Initial and subsequent forge repair costs dropped. Armor maintenance is less Treasury-punishing — good news for Act 1 spike weeks and Act 2–3 attrition. See Crafting Gear.
Grest pirate emergency — +1 cycle
The emergency quest in Grest against pirates gained one extra cycle on its deadline timer. If you kept failing the pirate window, the patch buys breathing room. Full routing notes live on Grest Pirate Quest.
What to re-verify on your save
| Area | Action after updating |
|---|---|
| Crash at boot | Confirm Steam online, then cold-start once |
| Ligia / Gwendan arcs | Replay stuck dialogue from latest autosave |
| Forge shopping | Re-budget gold; exploit gone |
| Dragon Knight week | Re-check roster + consumables |
| Grest pirates | Use the extra cycle deliberately |
| Manual saves | Expect confirmation prompts |

How we source patch text
Primary source: Steam news Patch Notes 1.0.8 for app 4113940 (author credit on the community post). Secondary corroboration: launch-week coverage noting active hotfix support. This wiki does not invent DPS tables or undocumented toggle names.
When the next numbered build ships, we will add a sibling page under Updates and link it from the hub table — same human localization pipeline for FR, DE, and JA.
