Sovereign Tower How to Get Chester

Finish the Milkford goose chain, read Arlin’s clues, then choose company over thanks

How to Get Chester

Chester is Sovereign Tower’s chaos jester — a secret Round Table recruit gated behind the Cleankeeper goose contract in Milkford. Wild Wits hides him behind two staged audience quests and a final dialogue trap that many players click past. Curve Games launched the full solo game on August 6, 2026; community guides through mid-August still agree on the same core route documented here and on the longer Goose Quest Walkthrough.

Chester’s stats reroll whenever the game reads them, so he is a gambling specialist rather than a stable Strength hammer. Recruit him when you want Wit/Charisma chaos coverage and the satisfaction of solving Arlin’s riddles — not when you need a predictable Act 3 tank.

Why Chester is easy to miss

Most sovereigns accept the goose crisis, send their highest Strength knight, and never see Chester. The chain rewards listening:

  1. Stage one wants Angelica, not a martial brute.
  2. Stage two wants a clue-matching send (Gwendan, cheese, or a mount).
  3. The tower greeting wants a companionship line — not “You’re welcome.”

Miss any beat and you still “win” the comedy quest without unlocking the knight. Pair this page with Secret Knights and Recruit Knights when planning seats under the Act 1 six-knight cap.

Stage one — Angelica on the first goose

When the Milkford / bathhouse goose petition appears in audience, accept it. On the Round Table:

  • Send Angelica as the lead knight.
  • Aim for a clean success so stage two dialogue unlocks with Arlin’s hint text intact.

Angelica’s Animal Lover trait and Charisma lean make her the community-verified stage-one pick. Sending Gwendan or Goberto early may clear the card without Chester flags. Confirm party size and tags with Quest Success Tips and the Knight Quest Matcher.

Stage two — match Arlin’s egg clue

After stage one, Arlin (or contract text) describes the eggs. Community-verified mappings:

Clue themeWho / what to send
Eggs shine / shinyGwendan
Delicious aromaAny knight with a mount / horse
Smell bad / odorousA knight carrying cheese
Solitary / alone wordingSend the designated knight alone if the card allows

Record the exact adjective before you assign. Paraphrasing “shiny” as “pretty” has wasted Demon rewinds for many players. If you fail, use the Time Rewind Demon to retry only stage two — do not replay Act 0.

Cheese and mounts often come from annex events or inventory quirks — skim Items Overview and Annexes if your roster lacks both.

The tower greeting — do not say thanks

When Chester arrives after a successful stage two, dialogue options include a polite “You’re welcome” style line. Do not take it.

Choose the companionship reading instead — community guides quote lines in the spirit of: Was this bird not, in the end, just looking for a little company, like the rest of us? That acknowledgment is the recruit flag. Thanks closes the comedy beat without a seat offer.

Leave a free Round Table seat. You cannot dismiss knights; if the Act 1 table is full of secrets (Brunhilda, Dulahan, Wolf), park Chester for a later act or New Game Plus rotation.

After Chester joins

  • Expect random stats — re-check him before every high-stakes card.
  • Feed favourite meals from the Cooking Guide when affinity dips toward resignation thresholds on Knight Loyalty.
  • Prefer quirky Wit / Charisma / investigation tags over Dragon Knight prep — use Beat the Dragon Knight for that spike.
  • Update Tier List assumptions; Chester is a spice pick, not a default S-tier.

Common failures

  • Wrong stage-one lead — Angelica matters more than raw Strength.
  • Ignoring Arlin’s adjective — shiny ≠ cheese ≠ horse.
  • Clicking You’re welcome — comedy ends, recruit does not.
  • No free seat — he jokes, then nothing sticks.
  • Stacking Beast Hunt the same week — both secret chains want Demon budget; stagger them per Beast Hunt.

Chester rewards rulers who treat Arlin like a hint narrator. Listen twice, thank once less, and leave a chair for the bird who wanted company.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

How do you recruit Chester in Sovereign Tower?

Complete the Cleankeeper goose chain: Angelica on stage one, a clue-matched send on stage two, then pick the companionship dialogue instead of You’re welcome.

Who should I send on goose stage two?

Match Arlin’s clue — Gwendan for shiny eggs, a mounted knight for delicious aroma, or a cheese-carrying knight for bad smell.

Why didn’t Chester join after I finished the goose?

Most often you clicked a thanks line at the tower greeting, sent the wrong stage-one knight, or had no free Round Table seat.

Are Chester’s stats fixed?

No. Community guides report his stats reroll whenever the game reads them — re-check before critical quests.
