Sovereign Tower King Slayer Walkthrough

Survive the five-cycle countdown, pick a resolution route, then stop at the Demon before Act 3

King Slayer Walkthrough

The King Slayer is the late Act 2 countdown that turns an open county week into a hard stop. Wild Wits warns that the threat returns in five cycles; Curve Games’ August 6, 2026 launch build keeps that timer as the signal to stop opening long optional chains. This page covers preparation, overlapping undead emergencies, the final resolution screen, a tested four-knight purification route, Glass Blade and Spectral Eye notes, and the Demon now-or-never checkpoint before Act 3.

Heavy Act 2 spoilers. Pair with Act 2 Walkthrough, Emergency Quests, Crafting Gear, and Key Items. Patch 1.0.9 repairs related progression bugs (Victoria, Alwena, antagonist audience) — update Steam before blaming a softlock.

Quick route from five circles to Act 3

  1. Stop starting long optional quests from zero.
  2. Finish only near-complete permanent rewards (counties, recruits, relics, personal payoffs).
  3. Follow King Slayer preparation leads still available (including the eastern sorceress tip).
  4. Pull core knights back toward the Tower; leave capacity for late emergencies.
  5. Preserve specialized gear — especially the Glass Blade if you own it.
  6. Wait for the final King Slayer resolution screen and compare routes before repairing everyone.
  7. Build the party for the route you actually choose; repair for displayed Damage Risk.
  8. Resolve the encounter; collect the Spectral Eye (+3 MAG).
  9. Stop at the Demon’s now-or-never warning before committing to Act 3.

Five cycles means scheduling discipline

Before the warning you can send useful knights away for multi-cycle county or recruit work. After it, every assignment must justify taking knights, gold, or equipment away from the finale. Finish a route only if it is already one step from a permanent result. Do not open a fresh three-cycle chain because the reward looks shiny.

The board does not go quiet. Late Act 2 still spawns emergencies such as Army of the Dead (community example: ~2–3 Damage Risk, ~80 gold). Clear those without emptying the four or six knights you may need for the King Slayer screen — see Emergency Quests.

Follow the sorceress lead

The game explicitly points toward outside help — a powerful sorceress away to the east. Following that lead can bring Belladonna / Belelladana into the Tower and open potion options that temporarily shore up stats before the fight. Community routes treat her as strong QoL, not a verified hard gate for every resolution. Still prioritize the lead while the countdown is comfortable; alchemy context lives on Consumables and Tower Servants.

The final screen offers more than one resolution

When the countdown ends, the game does not always dump a single fixed boss card. You may see multiple resolution routes. Community-tested example:

RouteParty sizeNotes
Purification4 knightsTested ~2–5 Damage Risk; lower risk than the 6-knight option on one save
Alternate (visible)6 knightsHigher party demand; compare before equipping

Wait until you can see the routes, then build. Repairing six knights before you know whether purification needs four wastes gold and forge time — cheaper repairs after Patch 1.0.8 still are not free.

Purification checklist (tested example)

One successful purification party used Rufus, Gideon, Arron, and Ursula. Treat that as an example, not a mandatory lineup — your attributes, meals, and transformations differ. Practical steps:

  1. Select purification (or your preferred visible route).
  2. Pick knights who cover the actual weak stats on the card (Magic often matters; Strength and Wit also appear).
  3. Treat max 5 damage as the armor threshold for anyone you cannot afford to lose.
  4. Redistribute weapons, mounts, and meals to the final party — ignore “who usually holds this.”
  5. Keep the Glass Blade on a relevant party member if owned (+1 AGI, +2 MAG, spirit-seal flavour; useful interaction reported on King Slayer resolutions).
  6. Save, commit, collect Spectral Eye (+3 MAG).

Do not assume Arron’s combat / dragonheart bonuses auto-dominate purification — Patch 1.0.9 limits post-heart bonuses to Strength and Agility, and purification is not a normal combat tag. Check contribution on the card; see How to Get Arron.

Glass Blade and Spectral Eye

ItemRole
Glass BladeMagically tempered glass blade; +1 Agility, +2 Magic, passive; often used to seal demons/spirits; keep for this encounter
Spectral EyePurification success reward; +3 MAG — strong Act 3 relic

Full key-item context: Key Items. Do not blow the last Act 2 gold on a speculative Magic upgrade if your party can already clear and the Eye is about to drop.

Demon checkpoint — do not rush Act 3

Immediately after a successful ward-off, the Demon returns with an explicit now-or-never rewind chance for the end of Act 2. Stop and audit:

  • Murder timeline acceptable? (Stop Act 2 Murder)
  • Knight deaths / resignations you still want to undo?
  • County or personal routes already mapped for a better branch?
  • Alliances and seats you want to carry into Act 3?

Do not rewind for Great Success envy or a few gold pieces. Once you pass the warning, Act 2 ends — continue into Act 3 Walkthrough, Golden Key, and Endings Guide.

The King Slayer is not “one more emergency.” It is the Act 2 scheduling boss: five circles of discipline, a route you pick on the final screen, a Spectral Eye for Act 3, and one last honest Demon question before the ten-seat endgame begins.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

When does the King Slayer appear in Sovereign Tower?

Late Act 2. When it warns it will return in five cycles, stop opening long optional chains and prepare for the final resolution screen.

How many knights does King Slayer purification need?

Community-tested purification used four knights at roughly 2–5 Damage Risk. Another visible route required all six — compare before equipping.

What does the Spectral Eye do?

It is a King Slayer success reward that grants +3 Magic. See [Key Items](/items/key-items/).

Should I enter Act 3 immediately after King Slayer?

No. Stop at the Demon’s now-or-never checkpoint and only continue when the Act 2 timeline is the one you want to carry forward.
