Sovereign Tower Settings, Options and Best Configuration
Tune graphics, audio, language, and Steam Deck options before your first run
The Options menu in Sovereign Tower is denser than its storybook art suggests. Wild Wits shipped the August 6, 2026 launch with controls tuned for keyboard-mouse and Steam Deck touch, audio ducked by dialogue priority, and language toggles independent of voice acting — plus an in-game accessibility layer that most players never reopen after their first session. This guide walks through every Options tab, recommends a configuration for first runs, and flags which settings to revisit on a second play-through.
If you have not started the game yet, skim How to Play Sovereign Tower and the Controls Guide before adjusting settings.
Where to find Options
Options lives on the title screen under Settings and is also reachable mid-run via the Esc → Settings shortcut. The menu is split into seven tabs:
- Display — window mode, resolution, frame cap, v-sync.
- Graphics — quality preset, shadow detail, crowd density, UI scaling.
- Audio — master volume, music, ambience, voice priority.
- Language — interface, voice, subtitle, secondary subtitle.
- Gameplay — auto-save cadence, fast-forward speed, dialogue skip, combat log.
- Accessibility — text size, high-contrast mode, cursor size, hold-versus-toggle.
- Steam Deck / Controller — input binding, dead zones, vibration, touch layout.
Each tab has tooltips; this guide adds the why behind each setting.
Display tab
| Setting | Recommended | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Window mode | Borderless fullscreen | Avoids alt-tab flicker on Windows 11. |
| Resolution | Native | Game does not benefit from super-sampling on mid-range cards. |
| Frame cap | 60 | Cap to power consumption unless your GPU is 4080+. |
| V-sync | On | Eliminates screen tearing on Round Table animations. |
If you play on Steam Deck, set the resolution to 1280×800 and the frame cap to 40. See Steam Deck Guide.
Graphics tab
| Setting | Recommended | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Quality preset | Balanced | Game is stylized — Ultra mainly hits shadows. |
| Shadow detail | Medium | Affects throne-room ambiance; low leaves knights flat. |
| Crowd density | High | Audience scenes need a full hall. |
| UI scaling | 1.0 | Higher values clip dropdowns (see troubleshooting). |
Patch 1.0.8 (August 11, 2026) reduced a memory leak tied to the Ultra preset; you can safely pick Ultra if your machine has 16 GB+ RAM.
Audio tab
The audio mix is ducking-heavy: voice acting is king, music bows out under dialogue, ambience holds the tower mood. Recommended first-run preset:
- Master volume: 70%.
- Music: 50% — Hildegard Von Blingin’s Soundtrack is gorgeous but loud.
- Ambience: 80% — tower echo carries quests.
- Voice priority: High — lets dialogue cut through the music cleanly.
Language tab
Sovereign Tower ships with English, French, German, Japanese, Korean, and Simplified Chinese in-game. This wiki publishes in English, French, German, and Japanese — see site meta. Recommended:
- Interface: pick whichever language you read most comfortably.
- Voice: leave default unless you dislike a specific voice actor.
- Subtitle: On — dialogue runs fast and the tier-list math relies on literal lines.
- Secondary subtitle: Off unless you are testing translations.
This wiki tracks four locales; Korean and Simplified Chinese players should rely on the client until the wiki expands.
Gameplay tab
The most consequential menu for first runs.
- Auto-save cadence: Every 3 days. Daily auto-save burns slot 1.
- Fast-forward speed: 1.5× for first runs, 2× once you understand the dialogue trees.
- Dialogue skip: On (post-Act 1).
- Combat log: Visible — Round Table success math depends on what the log shows.
If you are a completionist, switch fast-forward to off during Act 1 dialogue. The meta-commentary sometimes surfaces only at 1× speed.
Accessibility tab
Sovereign Tower includes five accessibility toggles, all worth enabling if you need them:
- Large text — bumps UI by 25% without clipping dropdowns.
- High-contrast mode — recolours UI accents for low-vision players.
- Cursor size — useful on 4K displays.
- Hold-versus-toggle — changes action prompts to single-key.
- Subtitle background — adds a tinted backdrop for readability.
None of these are toggled on by default — turn on what you need at the start, then leave them.
Steam Deck and controller tab
The Steam Deck is Verified per the Steam Deck Guide. Recommended controller setup:
- Touch layout: Default.
- Dead zone: 8% — lower values drift the cursor on the thumbstick.
- Vibration: Off during quests, On during Round Table success/failure moments.
If you own a separate controller, the touch layout still works; the only change is mapping the Y key to the cycle button.
Troubleshooting common settings problems
Dropdowns clip
If the navigation dropdowns cut off on the second item, your UI scaling is too high — drop from 1.25 to 1.0. See Common Mistakes.
Audio crackles
Set voice priority to High and ambience to 70% — the August launch shipped with a ducking bug fixed in Patch 1.0.8 (Patch Notes 1.0.8).
Slow first-launch load
Steam Cloud sync stalls if your local saved_games folder is over 100 MB. Clear old saves; the game re-downloads the rest on first load.
Mid-run settings reset
Some players report language reverting after a Demon rewind. Re-select your language after the rewind animation completes — the issue is fixed in Patch 1.0.9 but persists on a handful of pre-patch saves.
Settings across runs
Settings persist across New Game Plus runs but reset if you delete the saved_games folder. The New Game Plus guide walks through re-importing settings.

The Options menu rewards a single five-minute pass at launch — turn on the accessibility layer you need, set fast-forward to 1.5×, and pick your audio mix once. After that, you can play without revisiting it.
